Spad Fest 2008

The DRCC's Chris Duncan attended the annual Spad Fest held in Council Bluffs, Iowa, on June 6-8. The event was scheduled to be held in another city but was moved due to the flooding in Iowa this Spring.

The festival was strictly for SPAD (Simple Plastic Airplane Design) aircraft and included combat competitions and open flying. Approximately 30 flyers attended the event. Besides open flying there was Combat competitions and Fuel Jug Bowling

This is a group shot of the SPAD flyers who attended the event. Chris' performance in the combat event earned him the title of "Sitting Duck" Chris holding his airplane that hit the ground while in a 90 degree bank. It flew again later that day! Chris trying for an extremely low pass. It resulted in a cart wheel moments later.
